Preparing to Leave
I was startled to realize yesterday that I have less than three weeks until I leave for Costa Rica. This is both exciting and slightly terrifying. I still have so much left to do: clean and pack up my room, get a few more things I need, and write a multitude of lists.
Obviously I’m excited for the trip. Coe’s study abroad program was one thing that really attracted me to the school, so in a way, this trip has been on my mind for over two years. Due to things that were going on in my life, I didn’t know whether or not I was going to apply to the study abroad program. Now that things have gotten better, I’m glad I did. I know this will be the chance of a lifetime and I’m incredibly excited.
At the same time, I’m also pretty nervous. This will be my longest time away from home, the farthest I’ve been from home, my first time out of the country, and my first time living in a place where the primary language is not my first. And, of course, the most pressing at this moment, the stress of choosing what to bring, what to keep in my room and what to pack away. I’ve never been good at stuff like that.
Well, I suppose it’s time for me to get back to packing!
